definitely! when that really hot weather rolls in and you are cooking and the kitchen is 15 degrees hotter than the rest of the house, you are going to want a fan to circulate air. i REALLY regret that we were unable to put one in ours, it needs it already.
that is what I am thinking, I am already hot in there. But in all the home decorating shows and mags, you never see them in a kitchen. i actually have a really pretty fixture picked out (not a fan)...it has just been so hot, that i was doubting myself.
Make sure the ceiling is high enough...maybe you have vaults in the kitchen...or that you make the fan pretty high. Our house in Minnesota we took the fan out or the kitchen because we kept feeling like it would take our heads off...

You just have to make sure it's dusted a lot! :) Because they do tend to spread dust around, which wouldn't be good around food. I miss mine though, even though the task lighting is way better now with pendants.
Yes! I don't care if they put them in kitchens on HGTV. ;-) It's always soo much hotter in the kitchen than anywhere else - my favorite kitchens have been the ones with ceiling fans.

However, when the practicality of one prevails, here are some tips for making it look best... 1. keep it as flush to the ceiling as possible. 2. avoid one with a light kit if possible and install can lights for lighting instead. 3. if you need the light, choose uplights so you don't have exposed bulbs.

I loved having a fan in the kitchen at the last place we lived. It really does make it way more comfortable in there.

this is justin i would say no, that would give cam something else to worry about when jumping off the table ;)
